Nitra-Seal Protects Affordable Housing Development from Radon
Project highlights:
- Reliable vapor mitigation ensures safe living environment in Texas residential complex
- Nitra-Seal® vapor barrier chosen for its proven effectiveness in radon resistance, ease of installation, and long-term reliability in protecting against vapor intrusion risks
An affordable housing project in a highly populated Texas region required effective radon mitigation measures for its multi-building, 90,000-square-foot apartment development. Radon, a naturally occurring radioactive gas, posed potential health risks, necessitating a proactive mitigation approach to ensure resident safety and compliance with environmental regulations. Buckeye Elm Contracting, a Land Science Certified Applicator with extensive experience in vapor intrusion mitigation systems, successfully installed the Nitra-Seal barrier across the apartment buildings in the development. Installation procedures included careful sealing of foundation interfaces, utility penetrations, and seams, followed by stringent construction quality assurance (CQA) protocols such as smoke testing to confirm system integrity.
