Mixed-Use Redevelopment Safeguarded with TerraShield

Project highlights:

  • Over 30,000 Square Feet of TerraShield Installed
  • Development protected from potential chlorinated VOC vapor intrusion
  • Passive SSDS installed utilizing TerraVent, a low-profile passive venting system

Environmental assessments for a Northern Michigan redevelopment project identified residual volatile organic compounds (VOCs)—primarily perchloroethylene (PCE), trichloroethylene (TCE), and dichloroethylene (DCE)—within subsurface soils and groundwater on land slated for a downtown redevelopment initiative. The potential for vapor intrusion prompted the development team to integrate a proven vapor mitigation system into the new construction design.
